My husband and I have different preferences on our me times at home. I prefer to read books, while he's more into watching TV and movies on DVD. The advantage of his preference is that we get to watch together, which also counts for our couple time since any parent knows how difficult it is to get away from the demands of both family and work.
I wonder if he would find subscribing to Direct T V practical? Right now, we have cable TV. The signal is sometimes choppy and there are some channels which, for some reason, we cannot access even if we're supposed to. I really do not know why. Also, he spends a lot of time (and money) searching for movies in the DVD stores. Well, he does love collecting movies, so I really cannot begrudge him that. Of course, like all movie fans, he craves for high definition, which Directtv.com promises to deliver. Another thing that looks interesting is the DirectTV DVR, which records up to 100 hours of your favorite shows, and may even record 2 shows at the same time, without using tapes or CDs. Wow, that's certainly something! We hardly get to watch the shows at their show schedules because of our little kid, but we can probably record some shows and watch them when our kid is asleep.
I wasn't able to watch the live telecast of Miss Universe because it happened while I was at work. I already knew that Miss Venezuela, Dayana Mendoza won the crown. But, even if I already knew the results, I couldn't help watching when a replay of the Miss Universe 2008 was aired again last Sunday. As expected, the women were all gorgeous. It was the year of the Latin American countries, as the top 5 consisted of 4 representatives from the Spanish speaking countries (Misses Venezuela, Colombia, Dominican Republic and Mexico) and Miss Russia.
There's a spanish translator who did his job beautifully but it was a surprise to me that Miss Venezuela didn't need him at all as she spoke fluent English, albeit with a Spanish accent. She was confident, she was beautiful and she was very smart. I think she did deserve the crown, although I wish Asians were more represented in the finals.
My favorite Reality TV Shows are The Amazing Race and Mythbusters. I miss watching Amazing Race because I do not have time to watch TV nowadays and follow a series, but I really love that show. I’m glad there’s always the internet to update me. Mythbusters is new for me. My husband and I love it because it tries to prove or disprove a long held belief. So we end up knowing whether or not a certain saying is true or not.

I liked her voice better than Jasmine Trias, who ended up in Top 3 a few seasons ago. Although I didn't really like her last performance that much, I think it's good enough to at least keep her from being eliminated. I hope she continues her strong showing. Too bad I'm not a US resident and can't vote for her.
